Man wears religious mask to church Harvest party
TEMECULA — Instead of buying a costume for the church harvest festival this year, Timothy J. Bergon decided to wear the "happy, got-it-together guy" face he normally wears to church. "It was quick, convenient and cheap," he says. "And I was curious if people would notice." Tim's religious mask is meant to convey that he is walking in perfect harmony with the Bible and the Holy Spirit and has little room for improvement in his Christian walk, he says. He has "fine-tuned it over the years and thought I'd put it to use this holiday season," he says. But people at the party thought Tim had forgotten a costume. When asked why he didn't dress up Tim explained that he was hiding his true feelings and projecting false self-confidence. All he got was a "Wow, very convincing" from one friend, who then headed to the games area. Tim says next year he'll try out the "ultra-spiritual" face that looks like he just stepped out of his prayer closet. •

I spot that mask every Sunday in our church. It's a very popular one this time of year! Tim wears it well.
